WHAT A SURPRISE...

That is sarcasm. This was to be expected. Rules just don't apply with this administration. The article mentions that the two years' probation and the $250,000 fine will be upheld. Excuse me if I believe that that means absolutely nothing. I've been on probation before. It ain't shit. As to the large fine: I'm sure that Scoot will be able to find it somewhere. He's got friends in high places, you know.

This presidency reeks. It's unjust, manipulative, cruel, disingenuous, phony as a three-dollar bill. Other than that, we Americans should be proud.

So treason, which used be dealt with with beheadings or decades-long prison terms, is now, apparently, not that big of a deal. Whatever.

The 250 grand won't even come out of Libby's pocket. He can have his friends hold a fundraiser for him to pay it.

The full pardon will be coming in January of 2009. Bush just commuted the sentence today to keep Scooter out of jail until the pardon comes.

I've been trying to think of something to say but I think you pretty much summed it up.

Though on a rather more base level, I will say he's a twat.

"But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby's sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison."

Jesus H. Christ (the H stand for Holy, or maybe Hip-Hop), that is ridiculous.

I'm off to plug my ears, bury my head in the sand, or whatever else will stop my head from exploding.

The above? That's how American apathy was born.

Jay: Exactly.

Laura: Exactly.

Ay caramba! What a charade. Actually, though, it's really not, at this point, a charade anymore. Now it's just, "I am President. I, um, make--eh--da roolz. Deal widdit."

Melissa: I couln't agree with you any more wholeheartedly. This whole sham of a presidency makes the American public *want* to bury their heads in the proverbial sands o' Apathy. Nothing matters because most everything isn't fair and just. And this crook got *re-elected*? Amazing.

Shhh! He cheated!

I don't doubt that at all, Oestre. I reckon that makes it easier to win, huh?

(BTW, Have fun on your trip.)

Hey...melissa took my 'bury my head in the sand' line.

This just screams WTF! I.don't.get.it. Now, really, I think I will stop reading the news--wake me up in 08 will you (as I saunter off to join the rest of the country).

Eggs, Nighthawk...eggs. The only thing this country is bothering to do--myself included--is to jab a thumb at the monkey and say, "This guy sucks." Then again, what *are* we to do? Attempts to combat the ineptitude through the proper channels are just met with "Executive Orders," in other words: "Naw, we're a-gonna do this *my* way, checks and balances be damned. I *am* El Presidente, after all. Shit. Eff that...I am King George."

:-O

Hey now! Don't question George, after all, he IS the decider!
(this is sarcasm, too)
