HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

out of the cold
stinging wind and harsh
skeletal reality

a warm bed,
nest here,
sleep here,
safe

let the world slide by
--greased skid--
let the world slide by and
cocoon yourself, here,
wrap me around you

together we will make sense
out of the senseless and
find Time

let the harsh shadow-world slide by
--greased skid--
nest with me
close your eyes and
sleep and know that
Tomorrow is a better day

i had the thought the other day that this home of ours (33 1/2 yrs)has surrounded us; keeping us warm, safe, dry, and secure so that we could go on with our lives.
and that it doesn't ask for too much...just a repair now and then and a love for its beams, windows, shingles, and walls. it has been a good fit...a place for children to grow, for laughter, tears, friendships, and a place for scattered family to come together. i hope i never take it for granted.
